MARION COUNTY, OR (KPTV) – Health officials confirmed Tuesday a second case of measles in a resident of Marion County.

The Oregon Health Authority indicates that the case is linked to a traveler who has recently visited the area and who has not been vaccinated.

The OHA confirmed another case of measles earlier this month and said the two cases were not related to measles cases in Clark County and a case of measles in the Multnomah County.

The OHA has stated that there are no other suspected cases to date or new places of exposure to the virus.

According to health officials, unvaccinated persons who have visited the following location during the following hours may have been exposed to measles:

  • Youth on Mission, 7085 Battle Creek Road SE, Salem, February 18 from 7 am to 14 pm from 5 pm

The OHA has a complete list of Oregon's potential exposure sites on their measles web page.

Health officials urge people who are not immune, who have been exposed and who have symptoms of measles to avoid going to a medical center immediately. Instead, call a health care provider or emergency care center over the phone to create an entry plan that avoids exposing others to waiting rooms.
