Lee Dixon revealed what an "insider" from Arsenal had told him about improvements to the club under Unai Emery.

Dixon played 616 times for the Gunners in a career of 14 before interrupting his career in 2002.

It is not surprising that the former right-back still has friends at the club who can keep him abad of what's going on in the club.

He explained how their training sessions differ from those of Arsene Wenger.

"The intensity of training and accountability in training compared to what is expected of them have increased," Dixon told Premier League Productions.

"I know that because I still have a few people to hit on the practice field and I can ask how things are going.

"The little initiate has sort of said that the training has changed completely in this regard, which, in my opinion, is a good thing."

Emery guided Arsenal 12 points better than last season, but some performances were uneven.

The Gunners are currently in fourth and last place in the Champions League with a two-point lead over Manchester United.

They also qualify for the quarterfinals of the Europa League where they will face Naples.

"We saw this season some results were fantastic, some performances were brilliant," added Dixon.

"Tottenham at home was sensational, they played well outside too, the match against United recently.

"But then, they will play Rennes (performance) away from home and some of the results they've achieved in this (undefeated) race that they pursued at the start of the season, they should have been 3-0 against West Ham at home and they won the game easily. "
