Corrie faces a violent reaction from LGBTQ + following the bankruptcy of Underworld

Coronation Street is facing criticism from viewers for playing LGBTQ + character abuse with its Underworld roof collapse drama.

Wednesday's double bill (March 20) featured horrific scenes when a rescue operation was organized to help those trapped under the roof rubble collapse in Monday's cliffhanger.

The ITV soap opera warned for a long time that a beloved character would die during rescue operations, making the experience visibly tense.

In the end, Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) was killed on her wedding day when she accidentally got caught in the collapse. Rana was allowed to go into the factory with her spare keys to grab her bag, in the ultimate case of bad timing.

Over the course of two half hours, Rana wavered between life and death, but long enough to exchange wedding wishes with Kate in the rubble. In the end, she died tragically.

The departure of Bhavna Limbachia Coronation Street was announced two months ago, and many fans had rightly predicted that Rana would die in the collapse of the roof after receiving these spare keys last week. Yet his disappearance has again disrupted many.

Some have said that Rana's murder on Kate Connor's (Faye Brookes) wedding day is a good example of Bury Your Gays.

It's a long-running theme, especially on television, where LGBTQ + couples are not allowed to last without a horrible break – think of Tara's murder in Buffy against the vampires or kill Lexa in The 100.

For some people Corrie viewers, snatching Rana from Kate so brutally is an excellent example of Bury Your Gays:

Especially because Rana 's return to the factory was random, critics of some viewers go from calling it "really terrible death" to the accusation of having harbaded people from various fans.

"#Corrie took Bury Your Gays so seriously that they donned poor Rana in a wedding dress and threw the roof of the factory on her," one of the writer highlighted.

For her part, Bhavna Limbachia seems to have a different opinion about Rana's brutal death scenes. In a post-exit interview with ITV, Bhavna said that she had asked to be killed from the show.

"When I told Kate Oates and Iain McLeod that I wanted to leave the show to try something else, it was my decision and my choice for Rana to die because that was the only appropriate end for the character, "she explained. "Kate and Rana fought so hard to be together and they had a hard time together."

"I believe that their love was so pure as two souls that it was impossible for Rana to change her mind, get in a cab and leave.

"I felt that if they were to be separated, they would have to be torn apart and that could not have been their decision, the only solution is if Rana dies, Rana will never leave Kate, never."
