Although she has only released one song, 2018 may have been one of the greatest years in her history.
His relationship with technocrat Elon Musk catapulted him from indie-royalty to traditional celebrity, and it was before his recording went bad with Azealia Banks inadvertently inspired a government investigation into Musk's potential corruption in the stock market.
Now that she is preparing to release her fifth album Miss_Anthropocene, Grimes – alias Claire Boucher, aka c, symbol of the speed of light – gave a rare interview to The Wall Street Journal Magazine.
She delves into the concept of new music, her relationship with Musk and why she plans to kill Grimes.

# 1. Grimes will die soon
In the film, Boucher says she feels restricted by "Grimes" as a brand and plans to "kill" Grimes "soon via" public performance ". That's why she announced last year, via Twitter, that she would legally change her name to "c", Italic and lowercase.

While Grimes is still in a relationship with Musk (the couple debuted in public at the Met Gala last year in May), she is reluctant to talk about him in the interview.

When she talks about Musk, she does not want to say more. Bradley says that Grimes will not say his name, but says that she "loves him" and speaks in fragments.
"Look, I love her," she says, "he's great. There must be a reason. I only think … I wish … yeah. It does not matter … Cool.

# 3, his new album will make climate change "fun"
Grimes announced as a preventive Miss_Antropocene on social media yesterday, before the publication of this profile, that the feature film develops.
In her statement, she explains that there is a concept album "On the anthropomorphic goddess of climate change" which is "composed of ivory and oil". Each song will be "a different incarnation of human extinction as described by a pop star demonology".
She describes the sound of the album as "ethereal nu-mutal (ish)," which is exactly what we've heard so far with "We Appreciate Power."
On this subject, we learn a little more about the concept of this song and its place in the album. According to Grimes, he "introduced the group of pro-AI-Propoganda girls who embody our potential for slavery / destruction by artificial general intelligence."
Through the WSJ Magazine Grimes explains in detail that "We appreciate power" was inspired by North Korea's response to K-pop, Moranbong. She also says that this song "represses her spirit".
We also learn that Miss_Antropocene aims to change the perception of climate change as a depressing subject.

This includes shots for great visuals, such as "apocalyptic PSAs" for television that would see her eating an elephant's head.
Bradley describes a song we have not heard, "So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth", as a step forward "revealing" for Grimes. According to him, this centers his voice, something that she has never really done before.
Grimes also shared his works of the Miss_Anthropocene character on Instagram.
# 4 "I am what you want me to be"
Grimes responded to the interview by tweeting that she "was slightly moved by something," which we'll guess is Musk's moan. She also referred to the post-truth speech to say that the article is both correct and Incorrect.
Miss_Anthropocene does not have a release window yet, but Grimes has promised to publish "synthesizer-based stuff" before the album, via EP or demos.
Last week, she abandoned the "Pretty Stuff" demo, which would come from an "AR musical" on which she works, and not related to the next album.
Before that, she made an appearance in Bring Me The Horizon and Poppy's latest albums and released a title with Mindless Self Indulgence singer Jimmy Urine.
