Energy services giant Wood won a £ 25.8 million contract for the construction of a gas pipeline in the United States.

The contract with RH Energytrans will allow the Aberdeen-based company to build 28 km of pipeline between Pennsylvania and Ohio.

As part of this agreement, Wood will also build a metering station in Ashtabula County, Ohio.

The project is underway and should be completed in the summer of this year.

Wood said the pipeline would support the domestic energy supply of Ohio communities and industries with limited access to natural gas sources.

Andrew Stewart, Managing Director of Wood & # 39; s Asset Solutions Americas, said: "Wood has provided the first technical, environmental consulting and engineering services for this project.

"We are now looking forward to moving this support forward to the construction phase."
