Barclays Bank has become a major funder of women's football after accepting a record sponsorship program with the Football Association.

The three-year deal is worth more than £ 10 million and is considered the company's biggest investment in British women's sport.

Under the terms of the agreement, the high-flying league will be renamed Barclays Super League (FA) starting next season, with a £ 500,000 pot offered for the first time. Barclays will also become the main partnership partner for the FA Women's School, designed to make it easier for girls to enjoy the sport after school.

Jes Staley, Managing Director of Barclays, said: "Being able to support women's football is an excellent initiative for the bank. The momentum is clearly behind the sport and we will see women's football grow considerably across the UK ".

The AF has itself increased its investments in women's sport as part of efforts to increase women's participation in the sport.

Earlier this month, Budweiser signed its first sponsorship of women's football.
