Daniel Asiedu, the man alleged to have murdered in 2016 the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Abuakwa-North, JB Danquah-Adu, revealed to the High Court of Accra that his lawyer was fed up with his case.
According to him, his counsel, Mr. Augustine Obour, informed him that the state was thwarting his efforts to defend him adequately.
"That's why I'm asking for a lawyer at the International Criminal Court (ICC) because the government can not frustrate or try to control this lawyer," he said.
Asiedu, aka "Sexy Don Don," made the statement after the presiding judge, Judge George Buadi, asked him (Asiedu) if he had a lawyer to defend him.
The alleged murderer, as well as the second defendant, Vincent Bosso, appeared before the High Court on Thursday for the first time after being incarcerated in the Central District Court of Accra in February this year.
Mr. Obour was the lawyer representing Asiedu and Bosso during their first incarceration proceedings in 2016.
Asiedu's love for ICC attorneys
Judge Buadi told Asiedu that the government does not control lawyers in the country and therefore any lawyer who represents him would have his best interests at heart and provide him with the best legal services.
"The court will find you a lawyer if you do not have one," Judge Buadi told Asiedu, to whom he replied: "Agreement, but if only the lawyer was honest. "
This is not the first time that Asiedu asks for an attorney at the ICC.

During the referral to the District Court, he repeatedly solicited a lawyer from the ICC, which led the court to adjourn the referral process twice.
A lawyer, Muniru Kbadim, agreed to represent the two men on a voluntary basis, but Asiedu rejected the services of a counsel and always insisted that the lawyer be represented by the ICC.
Selection of the jury
Asiedu and Bosso were charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, while Asiedu was indicted separately for murder and robbery.
In the meantime, the High Court adjourned the case on 1 April 2019.
Judge Buadi said the seven-member jury would participate in the trial that day, while pleading for the accused.
The court also ordered that the accused be kept in pre-trial detention, and ordered the prison administration to ensure that he was brought before the court at each hearing.
The order followed an appeal by prosecutor Hilda Craig, the Attorney General, claiming that even though the defendants were in detention, they were detained on behalf of the police. So it was the police who usually chased them. prison in court.
