Jordan Peele's latest film has finally arrived, and he's about to leave you confused and troubled as he puts forward the idea of Tethered.
The doppelgangers live in underground tunnels, but get up after wearing a red jumpsuit, just in time for Hands Across America, while the Adelaide family (Lupita Nyong & # 39; o ) is on vacation.
There is a lot to discover in the film that goes from a woman's fear to a much larger invasion. Here are some Easter eggs and bows explained.

Tethered and tunnels
First, the Tethered. The killer badbadins that are at the heart of the film. We learn that they are the culmination of a government experiment that has created twice as much of the mainstream population with the long-term idea of using them to control the mbades.
The film began with a text telling us that there are miles and miles of tunnels abandoned under the United States. Some come from old subways, others for sewage, but others, we do not know why.
Of course, in the movie we only see a piece of the tunnel, we badume that the budget is not enough to cover an entire network, but what we have in us is working enough to get the idea across.
We were told that the program was a failure mainly because, even though you can clone a body, you can not copy one's soul. Tethered only reproduces the originals. After the projects are canceled, Tethered walks through the tunnels intended to echo the people above them.
Rabbits in cages are their main source of food. That's why Adelaide Double, Red, mentions eating a raw rabbit that bleeds when she enters for the first time in their vacation home.
Red is the Tethered leader who is inspired to stand up when she sees Hands Across America.
Jordan Peele was clearly inspired by the people of The Mole here. Jennifer Toth's 1993 book, The Mole People: Life in the Tunnels under New York City – based on the 1956 film – made the term known to the general public.
They appear mainly in reference to the wicked and those who hide underground.
The film does not really tell the story of Tethered, as why were they abandoned, when did this project come to an end? For Peele, the film does not really deal with this, but the obvious comparison also adds to the theme of identity.
"The feeling that we all feel like the good guy in our own history keeps us from facing our demons," he told the Los Angeles Times. "I wanted to make a film that allows everyone to confront his demons, regardless of which faction you want to submit this film to through the prism of. But as a starting point … the United States and our xenophobia were at the center of our concerns. "
Michael Jackson cameo
The opening scene of Fun Fair shows Adelaide picking a "Thriller" t-shirt from Michael Jackson on the stand. Peele spoke about Michael Jackson's "Thriller" cameo in the light of the documentary Leaving Neverland.
"Everything in this film was deliberate, it's something I can guarantee you unless you love something and it's a complete accident," he told Mashable.

Is Hands Across America Real?
So, was Hands Across America real? The charity event really took place on May 25, 1986. An advertisement for this organization launches the film and we see Adelaide watching her before her family goes to the beach.
The real event was organized by Ken Kragen, head of music, who ensured the safety of the artists who sang on We Are the World.
The charity asked people to give ten dollars to make a place in the human chain that would make its way around the United States. The money was then donated to charities that fought against hunger, homelessness and poverty.
Celebrities have joined, with Michael J. Fox signing up in Ohio, Brooke Shields in New York and Mickey Mouse in California.
Even President Ronald Reagan also joined, even though homeless people were considered the fault of his administration.
But has this chain arrived? Not exactly. It was impossible to have a continuous chain across the United States, but those who registered showed up and participated. The event was considered a success and has been part of pop culture since the 30th Rock to Modern Family to Seinfield.
Easter eggs
Fun fact: When Adelaide watches the ad on TV, you can see some VHS tapes. One of them is CHUD, a 1984 film starring John Heard. He was documenting the lives of the underground homeless. Jeremiah 11:11

It is obvious that 11:11 is a direct mirror of itself, but the verse itself is perfectly suited to the film.

In the book of Jeremiah, the verse warns of an imminent destiny. The verse of the Old Testament refers to Jews exiled after Babylon. There is no figure of God in us, although Red mentions God, he seems to refer to her and to Adelaide's Tethering.
Adelaide – the real one – is upset. Red lived all her life, she chose her husband and children while she suffered.
The husband of Red calls Abraham, another Biblical reference. Red is a false pagan god, a clue to the problem of identity.
Twilight and mirror image
Jordan Peele said he was inspired by an episode of Twilight Zone that he had seen in his childhood, Mirror Image. The idea is a doppelganger who has this scary smile and they know more than you do.
The episode tells the story of Millicent Barnes who is waiting at the bus station when she heads to the restroom, looking in the mirror, she sees an exact copy of herself.
Then she sees the double sitting on the bench outside later, she sees her double in the bus in which she rides too.
Millicent maintains that its doppeganger can survive by taking it to replace it. Nobody believes her, but later the man who helped her throughout the episode sees her own double.
The final narrative says: "Dark and metaphysical explanation to cover a phenomenon.Reasons extracted from the shadows to explain what can not be explained.Call it" parallel shots "or simply" madness "in the twilight zone. . "
Is Adelaide really red?
The big turn is the last scene reveals where we discover that the day Adelaide "missed", she changed places with Red. The red lived above ground during all this time and Adelaide was stuck with the Tethered.
That's why her parents thought that she behaved strangely, that's why she did not talk after that night – she was not their daughter.
They took it and helped it and Red lived the life that was destined for Adelaide. She was married, had children, and all that time, Adelaide was in the tunnels plotting.
