The Ministry of Transportation has alluded to plans to buy electric buses to combat pollution.
Ghanaiantimes.com.gh reports that electric buses will be powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).
According to Deputy Minister of Transport Danny Titus Glover, this new measure will help phase out the use of diesel-powered city buses in the short and medium term and in the long term.

He added that the government was working with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to help it access Green Climate Fund funds for the purchase of electric buses.
He spoke on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at a Round Table on Ghana-Determined Contributions (NDCs) to address climate change during the African Climate Week in Accra.
NDCs are national climate action plans developed in accordance with the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change. These are 31 targets that affect sectors such as transport and energy and that must be implemented from 2020 to 2030.
