HBO officially relives Perry Mason. The pay cable officially commissioned a limited series based on the legendary fictitious criminal defense lawyer, with Americans & # 39; Matthew Rhys takes the lead role. Sopranos veterinary Tim Van Patten, meanwhile, has signed as director and EP.

The Emmy winner follows in the footsteps of the late Raymond Burr, who played Mason for nine seasons in CBS. Perry Mason series (1957-1966) and 26 subsequent television films (1985-1993).
