Joshua Buatsi can prove that he is a special talent with the win over Liam Conroy – Barry McGuigan

Joshua Buatsi says the challenge of the British light heavyweight title against Liam Conroy is the last step towards global recognition. I am inclined to accept.

His rivalry with Anthony Yarde intrigues British audiences and hopes that at some point, they will have the chance to prove who is the best man in the ring.

Although Yarde was installed as WBO Champion Sergey Kovalev's No. 1 challenger, if I had to guess in an enlightened way who was best equipped to prosper globally, my money would be on Buatsi.

Here's why.

Buatsi graduated from the British High Performance Center where he benefited from the competition against the best young fighters in the world.

At the 2016 Olympics in Rio, he lost by a smidgeon in the fight for the silver medal to win the bronze. That even told me that he was a world clbad prospect.

At major international amateur events, they fight day after day, which is a fantastic learning environment.

If you have not been there, you will not be able to replicate this experience. Yarde is not this background. It has not been tested to the same degree during its development.

Nine times out of ten, give me the guy who followed this elite amateur process. He proved pedigree.

This rule was saved when I saw Buatsi spar at our gym. In addition to doing a lot of rounds with George Groves, I saw him flatten a heavyweight cold with a left hook.

At 6 feet 2 inches, he is the perfect form for heavy weight and well coordinated, great boxing and balance skills, plus he takes a shot and can really hit.

This could have something to do with his Ghanaian origins. Buatsi was born in Accra, a rich source of global talent, including the great Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey and Joshua Klotey.

Yarde is powerful and can obviously hit, but he has not yet taken a world clbad punch. Buatsi has been rigorously tested at major amateur tournaments.

Yarde will have the opportunity to demonstrate his resistance to blows and his ability to handle a great opportunity when he decides to attack Kovalev, especially when he has to travel to America to do so. .

With no respect for Conroy, who is trying to become the first Barrow-in-Furness boxer to win the Lonsdale belt, but he is destined to become one step further from the Buatsi record.

This boy is a special talent, which he will probably prove in a new stop at the Copperbox tonight.
