"Dad is on a hunting trip and he has not been home for a few days." In 2005, 14 years ago, these words triggered a phenomenon. Supernatural is a show about two brothers (played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) fighting monsters, demons, angels and the devil himself. Even though Sam Winchester (Padalecki) said that he needed to be back for his interview with Stanford Law School, he is still with his brother Dean (Ackles) who is fighting today the wrong. Now, they just have a little more help.
Joined by Misha Collins as the vengeful Angel Castiel since the fourth season, Supernatural defied all obstacles, becoming the longest running series of the CW with 14 seasons. But all good things have to end, and although the hit series has been renewed for a 15th season, it will be his last.
The fandom behind Supernatural is vast and can not be denied, so Jared, Jensen and Misha have taken Twitter to share the news personally.
"Although we are very excited about participating in our 15th season, it will be our last," says Jensen.
"We cried some tears and we will cry again," adds Jared, before Jensen intervened to say that they would save the emotion of next season.
"We love you guys, and this family is not going anywhere, even though the show will end," promises Misha.
On behalf of series creator, Erik Kripke, Jensen said, "In a show on the family, it's amazing and it's the pride of his life that it has become a family."
Like someone who has watched Supernatural Since college, I know how hard it will be to say goodbye to Sam, Dean, Castiel and Nephilim, lover of nuggets, Jack (Alexander Calvert). You can now enjoy the first 13 seasons on Netflix and watch every Thursday at 8 am. on the CW.
Thanks Jared, Jensen, Misha and all the actors and the team of Supernatural for fears, laughter and tears. As Dean Winchester would say, "you're great".
