World Bank Vice President for Africa, Hafez Ghanem, will arrive in Ghana on Sunday, March 24 as part of a three-day mission to the country.

Vice President Hafez Ghanem will pay a courtesy visit to Her Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to discuss macroeconomic, fiscal and monetary policies and to highlight investment opportunities in education and the growth of the digital economy.

Mr. Ghanem will also meet with His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President, Prime Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo, the Minister of Finance, other State Ministers and the Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Ernest Addison, for in-depth discussions on sectoral issues.

On March 25, Ghanem will also participate in a series of dialogues of CSOs and African Parliaments linking 15 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and will release a report from the World Bank entitled Taking Advantage of Parity – Unleashing the Potential of Women Entrepreneurs in Africa.

He will also visit projects funded by the World Bank Group in Accra and outside, such as the Accra Digital Center, the Women in Agriculture and VegPro Farms greenhouse project, all located in Akuse, eastern Ghana.

This is Ghanem's first visit to Ghana since becoming Vice President in 2018.

IDA 's active portfolio in Ghana comprises 21 projects, covering all major sectors, including energy, transport, education, water and sanitation.

All World Bank commitments amount to $ 1,731 million, of which approximately 66% has been disbursed. Ghana is also participating in a regional education project.
