Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed concern over the recent wave of road accidents that killed 60 people in one day.

While 57 people died in the Bono East area, 9 others also lost their lives in the central region, with several others injured to varying degrees.

Commenting on the changing situation, Mahama said on Facebook that it was "another sad day for our beloved country".

According to him, "our roads are becoming deadly grounds and road safety remains a major challenge".

Mr. Mahama then called on the authorities to take the necessary measures to combat road accidents.

He also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.

"My condolences and those of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) go to the families of the deceased. Our prayers also accompany the wounded and we implore God to grant them a speedy recovery, "he said.
