Berekum Chelsea at the Viarregio Cup
Ghana's first-division side Berekum Chelsea was eliminated from the Viarreggio Cup after a 5-3 defeat in penalties against Genoa in the quarter-finals.
Genoa opened the scoring in the 21st minute by Bianchi before John Attuquaye moved to parity in the 48th minute to lead the game on penalties.
The Blues missed two of their kicks and saved none of their opponents at the end of the tournament.
The Berekum-based squad qualified for the knockout stage after beating Italy's Carrarese Calcio by 4-1 before imposing themselves against Spezia after their 1-0 loss to AC Milan during their opening match of the tournament.
They then beat Brazilian club Club Athletico Paranaense to get a ticket to the quarter-finals, but were crushed by the Italian club Genoa.
Chelsea entered the history of the tournament after becoming the first African team to reach the quarterfinals of the competition.
