Ander Herrera wants to stay at Manchester United rather than joining Paris Saint-Germain – and this news will certainly be welcomed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Herrera is out of contract at the end of the summer. Discussions on a new contract have not yet come to fruition, but the midfielder and his coach strongly wish he remains at Old Trafford.
While Paul Pogba continues on his way and Nemanja Matic is a non-negotiable player, here is how Herrera's statistics compare to other central midfielder options from United – Fred, Marouane Fellaini, and Andreas Perreira – this season.
Goals and helpers
Herrera scored two goals and provided three badists in 19 Premier League games, one goal every 607 minutes and one badist every 405 minutes.
Marouane Fellaini, who was judged surplus by Solskjaer, scored a goal, but gave no help to the match in 748 minutes before his mid-season move to China.
Fred, who with a £ 52 million commission was to offer Herrera more competition in midfield, has accumulated six minutes more than Fellaini in the league; 754 in total. He scored once and has not yet provided any help.
Andreas Perreira played even less, with only 389 minutes remaining, but he scored one goal and one badist, both won 3-2 against Southampton.
Percentage of victory
Of the 19 appearances in Ander Herrera this season, United won 12 and lost three. This represents 63% of the winning percentage.
During the Solskjaer revival, he does not feel that his winning percentage is higher than that of United in the Premier League, which is 56% – with a 7% increase, which clearly indicates that they are better when he plays.
Fellaini had a 35% winning percentage before leaving, with as many league losses as victories, while Perreira is at 44% and Fred has a 61% win percentage for his limited opportunities so far.
Defensive work
Part of Herrera's reputation comes from his dedication and tenacity, and the statistics that corroborate him: he has on average more tackles and interceptions than the other central midfield options.
Herrera handles 2.4 attacks and 1.9 interceptions for 90, while Fellaini averages 1.5 and only 0.3 interceptions, Fred 1.8 and 1 and Perreira a little less, respectively 0.7 and 0.9.
Herrera, perhaps surprisingly considering his reputation as sh * thouse, also makes fewer mistakes than other players in this position, or at least he gets more out of it.
He commits an average 0.9 foul every 90 minutes, while Fellaini has 1.1, Fred 1.3 and Perreira exactly one.

Who pbaded
His success is another area in which Herrera leads the ball. Statistics show that he is their most skilled at moving balls.
With 43.7 average pbades per game, it's significantly more than Fellaini (30.4) and Perreira (26.1) and slightly more than Fred (43.5).
Not only that, but it is more accurate with his pbades, with 88.2% accuracy, just ahead of Fred (87.6%), Fellaini (81.2%) and Perreira (85.1%).
In the overall team, only Victor Lindelof (88.8%) and Phil Jones (93.4%) – of all people – are more specific to their pbad.
