Cruise ship pbadengers are well-equipped for choice on board. Whether it's a short vacation in Europe or a fortnight on the sea, the superb restaurants and bars, as well as the leisure facilities, are always worth it. Yet one area of the ship attracts more than most others, according to Jay Herring. The former cruise ship Carnival Cruise has leaked a huge secret of life aboard after traveling over 500 routes.
He described the consumption of alcohol, and excessive consumption in particular, as a "curious phenomenon".
In his new book, The Truth About Cruise Ships, he said, "Excessive consumption of alcohol is a curious phenomenon on board cruise ships.
"Alcohol consumption is often part of all types of vacation, but cruising holidays evoke fruit drinks and fun wines at dinner.
"Social environments often include alcohol and a cruise ship. Embarked with 2,000 other vacationers is one of the most social environments in which you can be.
"The time on board was limited, and to get value for money, pbadengers gained a total of six tons while maximizing their food consumption."
Jay added, "I think the same state of mind is partly what pushed pbadengers to drink more than the land.
"Many pbadengers fooled the entire cruise, which was especially true for shorter cruises."
At the same time, the best cruises destination in the world among all cruise lines has recently been unveiled.
This month, it was revealed that Greece was the best country in the world for a cruise.
The judges have designated Greece as the best destination (port or country) of its category.
The Mediterranean region is particularly popular with cruises thanks to its 3,000 islands.
A cruise may be the best way to visit several islands, such as the very popular Santorini or Mykonos.
Royal Caribbean offers its three main activities not to be missed during a cruise in Greece.
They list: "Snorkeling in the crystalline waters of Greece, looking for octopus, jellyfish and squid.
"Walk in the footsteps of the knights of the medieval old town of Rhodes" and "Watch the breathtaking sunsets in Mykonos and Santorini".
