The Ghana Black Stars wrapped up their qualifying campaign for the 2019 Nations Cup of Nations with a 1-0 win over Kenya, leading the group F. They also silenced the Kenya Federation president after claiming that Ghana had an unsuitable team to win the competition.

In the preparatory phase of the match, Kenyan federation president Nick Mwendwa launched a scathing match against Ghana, saying the quad would not be able to end his 37-year-old dry season with players like the "weak" Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew.

However, Mr. Mwendwa's pungent speech seems to have accused Kwesi Appiah's men of having dominated the Harambee Stars and rightly beat them 1-0 in front of a gigantic crowd at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the 83rd minute, beginner Caleb Ekuban was enough for the giants of West Africa to collect the most points, which also allowed them to overtake their opponents in the standings.

Ghana has not won the crown since 1982, after several unsuccessful attempts to win a fifth crown.

This year's qualifying makes it 22 for the four-time champions, two fewer than the seven-time winners, Egypt.

Ghana joins the former winners: Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Cote d 'Ivoire and Nigeria in the final.

The draw for the group stage is scheduled for April.
