Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong denied badaulting Central Regional Police Commander DCOP Paul Manly Awini.

Assin's central lawmaker Attorney, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, said the police "must properly evaluate the fact made available to him."

"I just want to say that there was no such aggression against a policeman in my presence," he said.

Ghanaian police have written to Parliament demanding the release of Mr. Agyapong in order to face charges of badault against him.

In a letter to the leaders of Parliament, the police indicated that the Hon. Agyapong is invited to participate in the investigations against him by Detective Sergeant George Ofori, Division Commander of the Central Region.

In the letter signed by the Commissioner of Police (COP) of the Director General / Administration, Mr. Ken Yeboah said: "This incident allegedly took place on March 14, 2019, at a demonstration of students of the # 39; Winneba Education University. "

"In the circumstances, we respectfully request your indulgence to release the hon. Kennedy Agyapong must report to the commander of the Central Regional Police to badist in investigations into the alleged badault, "he said.

On 17 March 2019, Detective Sergeant Ofori reported to the Central Region Police Command that he and other members of the police were fulfilling their legal obligations to provide security on the forecourt of the administrative block of the University of Winneba Education, in order to protect this institution against irritating raging students.

According to the complainant, Mr. Agyapong and the MPP for Effutu, Mr. Afenyo Markins, accompanied by some 500 angry youths, stormed the forecourt apparently to see the regional police commander.
