At last week's Back to Mac event, Steve Jobs presented a pretty compelling argument against integrating multitouch into desktop and notebook screens. He argued – rightly, I think – that the multitouch is usable ergonomically only when a gadget can be positioned horizontally: if you have to stay tilted forward to interact with a touch screen, you quickly develop a gorilla arm.

I was quite pleased with this answer as to why Apple was not exploring multitouch screens in their current iMac, Mac Pros and MacBook, but if you're not against an arm case or two gorillas, Troll Touch now offers a couple of options to power multiple touch screens with Apple's LED backlit Cinema Display 27-inch.

The Troll Touch solution comes in two versions: an integrated screen in which the front window has been replaced by an badog resistive panel or a kit that you can install yourself. Both will cost you a nice dime: the built-in display costs $ 2,499, while the kit you can install yourself costs $ 1,099. It's a lot of alternative to a multitouch solution on the desktop that Steve Jobs would be happy to sell himself if only that solution was not zero.
