Pastor Mensa Otabil, General Supervisor of the International Central Church of the Gospel (ICGC), expressed sadness at the recent fatal road accidents that have claimed the lives of dozens of people and many injured.

"We pray for families who have lost loved ones; because everything you know, there could be a whole family destroyed for no good reason, but the fact that they were in a vehicle crashed. This is not good and we should not allow this to happen … our sympathies to all these families and we pray that God will comfort them "

About 90 people died in two separate road accidents in the eastern and central areas of Bono on Friday.

Survivors have been sent to various health facilities where they are receiving treatment.

Addressing the faithful on Sunday, Pastor Otabil said, "No one is forced to die on our roads … no matter what we do to make it happen; we have to do something dramatic because human lives are very, very important … not a person must die needlessly … some things do not make sense "

He wondered why it should be "dangerous" to travel to "a small country like Ghana" and urged "our leaders to intervene"

"Ghana is a small country, why should traveling be dangerous? Almost every time someone travels, you are scared. What kind of country is this? You hear people traveling and everyone is scared.

A large part of our prayers are for traveling mercies; you intercede from the beginning of the journey until the end, then when they say they have arrived, you are very happy and when they start the journey again, you start interceding again. I'm not saying that we should not be praying for people to have a safe trip, but the safe journey should not become a major prayer topic; there are things for which we should pray; for souls to be saved …

Sometimes we look at these things and we wonder where we are going … I hope that our leaders will take note of them and not talk about them, but do something and intervene … it does not matter. It's not like it's happening from time to time … God help us, "he added.
