Announced last March, the RTI bill was introduced to Parliament for the first time in 2010, but could not be adopted by the two previous parliaments.

The momentum to get it pbaded came together in 2017 in forming coalitions to lobby the House after it nearly pbaded it in 2016.

The minister revealed that even though there are new petitions calling for amendments to the provisions of the bill, the legislature is willing to pbad the bill this week and then in the election presidential.

"The bill, in its current form, requires the establishment of an information unit in all public offices, the recruitment and training of information officers for this unit, the creation of of the RTI Committee and the conclusion of various administrative protocols before the beginning of the next financial year. ." He said.

He added, however, that "these elements are necessary to ensure the implementation of the infrastructure necessary to satisfy the RTI application that will be filed under this new law. The new law will be a major addition to Ghana's skills as a strong democracy. "
