Raonic falls to Edmund in two sets at the Miami Open

MIAMI – Canada's Milos Raonic dropped 6-4, 6-4 to British Kyle Edmund on Sunday afternoon at the Miami Open.

Raonic, the 12th seed in the ATP Tour, was broken by love at the end of the second set and Edmund, 19th seeded, was eliminated.

Raonic, of Thornhill, Ont., Needed treatment for his back problem early in the second set and his movement sometimes seemed difficult.

The result left two Canadians in the single men chart.

Montreal coach Felix Auger-Alibadime was up against Poland's Hubert Hurkacz on Sunday, while Denis Shapovalov of Richmond Hill, Ont., Would likely play Monday against Russian qualifier Andrey Rublev.

Shapovalov and Indian Rohan Bopanna were scheduled to play in Sunday's doubles match against Spain's seventh seed Marcel Granollers and Nikola Mektic of Croatia.

In the second round of the Women's Doubles, Gabriela Dabrowski (Ottawa) and China's Yifan Xu (5th) faced Poland's Alicja Rosolska and China's Zhaoxuan Yang.

Bianca Andreescu of Mississauga, Ont., Had a day off after reaching the fourth round in singles the day before.
