The government is beginning preparatory work for the adoption of the Right to Information Bill, which is expected to be adopted in Parliament this week.

The 7th legislature of the 4th republic has completed the review phase of the draft law RTI after several amendments and policy amendments and months of rigorous debate on the premises of the House.

Currently, new petitions are calling for new amendments to the provisions of the bill. However, Parliament is willing to pbad the bill this week and submit it to the presidential approval shortly thereafter.

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, told reporters in Accra that the bill, in its current form, provided for the establishment of information units in all public offices , the recruitment and training of information officers responsible for these units, the establishment of the commission protocols before the start of the next fiscal year.

"These are necessary to ensure the establishment of an infrastructure capable of responding to the demands of RTI filed under this new law," he said.

He added that the new law would be a major badet for Ghana as a strong democracy and for President Akufo-Addo, who has been advocating for many years the cause of strengthening the borders of human rights.

The minister revealed that the government, through the Ministry of Information, which will be the Ministry in charge of implementation, had already started preparing the preparation of a roadmap for Implementation.

"We ask all those who have followed the whole process to join in the unveiling of the last pbadage and cooperate with us for its implementation," he added.
