Guys, I was not so stunned by an episode of The dead who walk in so long. I mean, I was pleasantly surprised when a zombie stabbed Jesus, I enjoyed the wacky Whisperers and Highwaymen, and I loved how weird Rick was removed from the show. But tonight's episode was just fantastic – and its end was so shocking that my jaw dropped literally.
Two things: the first one is me cordially suggest you watch "The Calm Before" before reading this recap. I'm pretty sure you told him once or twice before any other good episodes, but man, I could not say more.
The second thing is that during the fourth season, I called the last confrontation between Rick and Governor on the occasion of the "Red Wedding" series, mainly because of the violence and the number of characters killed , as well as this incredible and horrible baby blow. The car seat of Judith covered with blood. I would like to cancel that, because even if it was violence, the fight was not shocking; we knew that the governor would come and that there would be a battle. And of course, we also know that the Whisperers would disturb the communities for hosting Lydia, and we all suspected that this would happen during the big fair because the The dead who walk can not have beautiful things.
But I could never have imagined that this would happen – a tour so surprising and so tragic, it matches Game of thronesRed marriage is better than anything else.
Enough of my prologue. Now let's talk about the program's prologue, centered on a couple we had never seen before, who was marching onwards through their birthdays. They find Hilltop, the lady makes a wooden piece with an "H" for "Home" or "Hilltop", the guy likes them and says that everyone will love them, and they head to the fair with a box of " It's so sunny, cheerful and peaceful that you know they are going to die, because they are heading to the fair, but we also see Alpha scalping the woman to get her blond hair.
This is a micro version of the whole episode because everyone starts incredibly happy to be at the eagerly awaited Fair of New Beginnings. Earl and Siddiq run blacksmith and CPR workshops respectively, and there is even a reservoir of dunk Eugene, which is pretty amazing. Community leaders are all meeting to talk about the Whisperers' new threat and decide to unite again. They declare that an attack on a community is an attack against all, as a sort of apocalyptic NATO. They sign the pact on which Ezekiel sits and Michonne even tells Gabriel that as president of the Alexandria Council he should sign it, not her. And then, they very wisely agreed that since the Whisperers would attack Hilltop for revenge for Lydia's rescue, every community would have to send warriors to help defend it – immediately. All good.
The worst thing that happens during the fair is that shit teens who kept this zombie in a pit and that Henry got drunk to keep being shit, and lie to Lydia that Henry really loves Addy, l & rsquo; Teenage girl with her glbades, so Lydia has no chance with Henry. We then see Alpha inside Hilltop, wearing the hat and the blonde lady, and no one is aware of it.
The shitty teens problem is solved with blissful speed – Lydia puts them goat shit in the face and Henry immediately remedies the situation – and, uh, I guess the Alpha problem is solved, somehow way. We see her present herself to King Ezekiel, to whom she asks to take her to help find winter clothes in an extremely sinister way. Later, Alpha grabs Lydia in a movie night and talks with her daughter about how she has become too weak to survive. The camera cuts off quickly, which suggests that his mother has also killed Lydia.
But first! The warriors sent to Hilltop, including Daryl, Carol, Michonne and New Kids leader Yumiko, have been meeting the couple's broken cart since the opening. As Hilltop still needs to defend himself, the rest of them fight each other, while the four aforementioned furrow the trail of the Whisperers, in the hope that their inhabitants are still alive. How can they keep a flock of this size? – but it's also ridiculous that I love to see The dead who walk. Alpha has the zombie equivalent of an atomic bomb and it's a lot of fun.
The last thing Alpha said to Daryl before letting him go with the others is that there is now a demarcation of the territories: there is a line and the Whisperers are owners of the south. All main characters must stay north. When Daryl asks where the line is, all that Alpha says is, "You'll know." She's not kidding.
Because the line is marked by several heads cut on wooden points. Ozzy, the leader of the bandits of the road (I think). Some other guys. Count's wife, Tammy. Teen jerk Ronnie. Teen non-jerk Addy.
Enid.
Tara.
And finally … Henry.
This is … it's crazy. This is certainly the biggest selection among the main actors in the series since Negan killed Abraham and Glenn, and this surprise was ruined by this silent cliffhanger. C & # 39; was shocking. I was surprised because the show did not even let us guess what was going to happen until the band saw their heads from a distance.
Then the show magically intertwines the identity of the heads with flashbacks of characters from the realm seeking them: Earl can not find Tammy. Gabriel asks Tara to discuss something. Alden scrutinizes the crowd during his performance on stage but is disappointed that his girlfriend Enid is not there. Finally, we see Lydia running to Ezekiel, panicked, telling her that her mother was inside. It turns out that they are both good. But in the present, Daryl runs to Carol and begs her not to look, to look at him instead. And the camera panning oh slowly to reveal that Henry is the last head.
Henry poor, kind, stupid, silly.
The series brought him to the forefront since the jump in time, which made his death very difficult, exactly as the series wanted. Even though you thought he was an idiot, we spent so much time following his character that he was trying to do what he needed over and over, that killing him was still a big deal surprise. The fact that he is still a child makes the situation tragic. And the fact that Carol loved her as a son and that she must experience the sorrow of losing another child … that's what makes it personal.
I have no idea how Alpha – and presumably some badociates – have managed to scare all those people out of the realm with anyone who notices. It's nonsense, because you need a Joker in The black Knight-the level of omnipotence to get there. Still, I do not care less about it. This scene is so well shot, so well mounted and so fantastic at all levels that it is among the best moments of the series. This is the kind of scene that could make some of the millions of people who have stopped watching The dead who walk after years of crap tuning, and, no doubt, rightly so.
The new season certainly had ups and downs, but there were many more ups and downs. The fact that this is the season for which Angela Kang entered as a showrunner should not be lost on anyone. The fact that she has managed to reverse the trend by incorporating the loss of the main character of the series is simply amazing. Honestly, I think it's perhaps my favorite season of the series. True, it's been a million years, so I remember very well the first days, but The is walking dead has been so good this season that I am really disappointed by more people who are not watching it! And it's been several years that I wish to stop watching myself!
The episode does not end with the revelation of the victims. Instead, the message ends with a speech by Siddiq, who has also been captured but the Whisperers have left alive to tell the rest of the horrors he and others have experienced. (I think that the heads cut on sticks may have been a sufficient message, but that does not matter.) Instead, Siddiq tells everyone how important the fellowship they have just rebuilt between communities is. . Because even if those who died came from different colonies, even if some did not know each other at all, they fought together and protected themselves even when they were sentenced.
This message of solidarity is significant, certainly, but what is really great is that it does not cancel everything we've watched this season, which has The walking Dead most unpleasant habits. The progression of the characters has do not been lost or does not seem to be. Of course, maybe it'll go right to hell in the next episode, but I do not think so. I think everyone's pact has just been sealed by Whisperers, and I think they will be united in their fight against this group of crazy cosplayed bodies. And that's something I can not wait to watch.

- Another example: Judith and Jerry posing as tigers and screaming repeatedly against each other. So incredibly adorable.
- The Highwaymen's Ozzy is pretty philosophical about what drives someone to wear the face of a corpse and hang out with zombies. "Strange days, strange ways to cope." I'll miss you, Ozzy, baduming it was you.
- I did not think it was Alpha who wore the wig in the Kingdom too long. She cleans well, literally! Plus, I think she may have found false lashes somewhere and clung to them on a rainy day?
- Fucking shit. With Tara and Jesus dead, who will lead Hilltop? Daryl? Carol? Rosita? Eugene? Someone else? This place is in difficulty.
- Connie explains to her sister Kelly how seeing the baby in distress has caused a lot of feelings in her, which suggests that she has lost a child herself. I doubt Earl wants to be a single father now that Tammy is gone, so maybe Connie will have a chance.
- Henry's death also has an impact on Henry's death: when this one started, Carol's worried is about to go looking for him because he's missing, but he joins Michonne, Daryl and others at the same time. Carol is so relieved! And then, there is a moment when Ezekiel realizes: "Our son is taking a girl to the movies tonight" – and he and Carol are really happy to be able to realize this moment. It still does not make any sense that someone is only making pieces with "H" on it and not any other letters, but I thought the "H" for Henry in the end was fine. I realize that in a more crappy episode, it would have made me angry.
- So we could not see what movie they watched, but the fair showed a cartoon called "Quack a-Doodle Doo", which is real and you can watch at the link. It stars Baby Huey, a big duck baby who is, no kidding, essentially a dumb adult with a diaper bad. It's not funny at all, despite the audience laughing and laughing. It's horrible. If this had been my first theatrical pbadage in a decade to survive the apocalypse, I would probably have become a Whisperer myself.
