The accident, which occurred in the first hours of last Friday following a head-on collision between two pbadenger buses, killed 57 people.

Condolences

The VVIP bus traveled from Accra to Bolgatanga, while the KIA Grand Bird bus traveled from Garu to Kumasi.

Most of the pbadengers died on the spot, while a number of them, seriously injured, were transported to Kintampo Hospital and Techiman Hospital Holy Family to be treated.

Police said that the KIA Grand Bird bus caught fire after the collision and that some pbadengers were burned.

According to the police, some pbadengers were stuck in or under the two buses and the staff of the Ghana National Fire Service had to cut portions of the buses to pick them up.

The charred bodies, the personal effects of the pbadengers and the pieces of metal carved in the buses as a result of the severity of the collision scattered at the scene of the accident, have prompted many people to witness the tragedy.

In the second accident, more than 30 people died at Ekumfi Dunkwa on the Winneba-Cape Coast road in the central region.

The accident involved a Yutong bus that was traveling from Takoradi to Accra and a Metro Transit bus to Cape Coast.
