In a Channel 5 documentary titled "The Royal Family at War", a royal expert said that the couple cried together on the couch on the day of their divorce. Editor-in-chief of Royalty magazine, Ingrid Seward, revealed the following: "Diana has said something very interesting. "She said that on divorce day, she and Charles sat together on the couch and they both cried."

This revelation means that the country's most publicized divorce may have been friendlier than we thought.

She added: "It was a crazy split, but by the time the divorce was finalized, the conditions were much better."

Ms. Seward's comments shed a very different light on the couple's tumultuous divorce, which was finalized on August 24, 1996.

Diana had revealed a very different story in Andrew Morton's talking book, Diana: Her True Story.

According to Morton, Diana was "absolutely miserable" in the marriage and "felt that she was like a prisoner of the palace".

Andrew Morton said: "Nothing prepared me for the cascade of information and controversy over the book.

"She was talking like a prisoner in a cell, he only had a few minutes left to tell the story."

Ms. Seward also baderted that Diana had felt threatened by Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and Charles' future wife very early on.

Ms. Seward said, "At the time of the wedding, Charles did not see Camilla, but Diana was convinced that it was."

Diana's worst fears came to fruition, Seward said when she intercepted a package sent by Charles to Camilla.

The Channel 5 documentary also indicates that Charles had cufflinks engraved with two intertwined C's that Camilla had given him on his honeymoon.

It also tells of a fiery confrontation between Diana and Camilla at a party in 1989.
