Barcelona would sell Samuel Umtiti to Manchester United if that allowed them to capture Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt, according to a report.

Umtiti was linked to United last summer, but signed a new contract with Barcelona in June. However, speculation has resurfaced recently, suggesting that he could still move to Manchester at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has played nine games in the league and the Champions League this season, though with a knee injury that limited his chances under Ernesto Valverde.

This has influenced Barca's targeting of De Ligt, which he sees as Gerard Pique's long-term replacement.

the Daily mail report that Utiti "is a player for whom they would listen to offers" as they seek to raise enough funds to sign the Dutchman.

Ajax has already reached an agreement to sell Frenkie de Jong to Barca for € 85 million and would like the same amount for the center-half De Ligt.

Transferring Umtiti to Old Trafford would therefore raise enough funds to finance this deal, although it has a release clause of 500 million euros in its current contract.
