Bird was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of his ex-fiancée Aniesa Bardien in 2013.

He lured Bardien into a bushy area of ​​Strandfontein, strangled her and then hit her on the head with a rock.

His body was found buried in a shallow grave 10 days later.

He was also sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing Sharvonne Koense, 20, the same year.

His conviction for several other counts of rape, badual badault and crimen injuria will go hand in hand with the punishment he has inflicted for the murder of Koense.
