Ghana will make its 22nd appearance at Afcon in Egypt
Ghana's deputy captain Andre Ayew said his team was desperate to win the final match at the next Africa Cup of Nations tournament for the first time since 1982.
The Black Stars have only been disappointed at the recent continental rally, having competed in the semifinals of the last six editions but failed to get their hands on Ultimate.
In 2010 and 2015, West Africans qualified for the finals.
"Everyone wants the trophy; the players want the trophy, the country wants it, "said Fenerbahce Ayew striker, reported by footy-Ghana.
"I think we will do everything we can, but the Afcon is far away; [from] now there is time.
"I thank God for having had the opportunity to be five afcons so I know how difficult it is to qualify even in the group stage.
"[We’re going to take the games] one at a time. Now there are even 24 teams, so it will be even harder than before [when it was 16 teams] we must therefore very well prepare ourselves and keep unity. "
Ghana has won Afcon four times.
"I think Ghana, for 10-15 years, is still an Afcon favorite and that will not change," said Ayew.
"There are three or four other countries that have levels similar to us, they have the same pressure in their country but we need it, we want it and we will do everything to get it."
"Everyone will give everything he has in his body to make sure we go as far as possible to bring back the trophy.
"If we give everything we have, in the end everything is in the hands of Allah and he will deliver what we deserve to have."
Ghana will participate for the 22nd time in Afcon in Egypt, which will take place from June 21st to July 19th.
