Anas launches campaign to sue Kwesi Nyantakyi

Award-winning investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas launched an online campaign to collect signatures in an effort to urge the Attorney General to sue and bring to justice the former president of the Ghana Federation of football, the lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The boss of the FA, currently in difficulty, is currently serving a ban for life of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), after being videotaped in violation of the laws of the game and would have received an amount of 65 000 $ to as a bribe.

FIFA's governing body, after declaring lawyer Nyantakyi guilty of various violations of their code of ethics, including bribery and corruption, has not banned him for life, but has also been fined $ 498,000.

The government of Ghana, with the aim of helping to reform Ghanaian football, has also instructed the Attorney General to seize the case and ensure that all culprits are brought to justice. In a recent publication of Anas, he revealed that the Attorney General had seized a file of the CID relating to investigations into the case. He does not understand why they did not prosecute. Hence his decision to send petitions to collect signatures to pressure the Attorney General to make it urgent to prosecute Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Anas thinks that while he was not being prosecuted, the collective fight against corruption would have been rendered useless.

"The police have completed investigations into the likely criminal behavior cases of Mr. Nyantakyi. They presented their findings to the Attorney General last year. The Attorney General has not taken any action to date.

"Please, help us ask the Attorney General to move this matter forward. Mr. Nyantakyi should be subject to criminal prosecution for some of his faults, which are on the verge of crime.

"We send letters, make calls, send social messages to all government entities, which can help us move this business forward to the next level. We also go to the media to help spread the word.

"If Nyantakyi is not prosecuted, our collective fight against corruption will not make any sense. It will also send many citizens the message that the law only concerns the poor, but that the rich and the powerful can not be held responsible for their actions.
