Entrepreneurship is no longer a choice. This is the only viable job option available for many young graduates in the country, said Joe Jackson, director of business operations at Dalex Finance.

"Ghana still has a long way to go to combat the depressing phenomenon of unemployment …", he attributed to partisan politics, widespread corruption, greed and recklessness.

He made these remarks when addressing students at Valley View University at a summit that was held on campus recently.

Mr. Jackson based his presentation on "Press On" and frankly told the students, "… the truth is that you will not get the job of your dreams when you leave this institution. 40% of those present in this auditorium will leave school and will not have work to do because the country does not create enough opportunities for graduates who team up … ".

"… If you do not have the chance to meet people, parents and legal guardians who connect you to integrate the very few jobs created, you have problems. But there is good news, entrepreneurship could bring you a lot of money, but this trip is arduous and takes a lot of time. Just start and support … ", he said.

Believe in your dream – even when others do not – and make sure everything you do is necessary. Being an entrepreneur does not mean that you opt for less; Sometimes you opt for more. Just be ready to fail and use lessons learned from failure to improve the rest of the trip. Self-confidence, faith, perseverance, hard work are essential features that will allow you to become involved as an entrepreneur, he warned students.

The summit was jointly organized by GP Africana and the University's Student Representative Council (SRC).
