TripAdvisor says the result is in the spotlight of the royal wedding.
"The global fascination with Harry and Meghan clearly has a powerful effect since it's the first time since 2016 that London has been at the top of the world rankings," said TripAdvisor spokeswoman Hayley Coleman. in a statement.
"With the imminent arrival of the couple's new royal baby, London could continue to reap the benefits of the Harry and Meghan effect until 2020," she added.

TripAdvisor has also revealed a "significant increase" in bookings for king-centric experiences, particularly for guided tours of the Changing of the Guard, Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. These sites have seen an annual increase of 94% to 231%, the site said.
Laura Lemon, CEO of Visit London – the official visiting guide for the capital – said the ranking was "a true validation of the incredible work being done by our tourism industry, ensuring our visitors have outstanding experiences every day from the past. ;year".

Paris ranks second in the top rated travel destinations of Tripadvisor, with Rome third, followed by Crete, Bali and Phuket.
In addition, 2019 was the first year that New York – which is a long-time favorite of travelers – has moved away from the top 10 TripAdvisor sites to rank 13th among the top rated destinations in the world.
