Kwasi Appiah will use the game to test marginal players
After finishing top of Group F of the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers (AFCON) with a 1-0 win against the Harambee Stars of Kenya at Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday, the Black Ghana Stars resume their activities today with an international friendly match against Mauritania at the same place.
Bright debut debutant Caleb Ekuban in the 82nd minute allowed Coach Kwasi Appiah's coaches to finish on a high note for CAN playoffs in 2019;
Without much play in this match, both sides would like to keep their good qualifying performance as part of their preparations for the June-July tournament in Egypt.
The Chinguetti Lions, nicknamed the Mauritanians, are also on their way to Egypt after winning second place in Group I ahead of Burkina Faso, despite the 0-1 defeat of the last group match in Ouagadougou on Friday.
Some of Appiah's players who could not play in last Saturday's game are likely to play today as player badessment continues for the coach.
With the exception of Inter Milan midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah, who reportedly left the camp for treatment, like Joseph Aidoo (who played about 10 minutes on Saturday), Alhbadan Wakaso and the compound duo Amos Frimpong and Kwame Bonsu of Asante Kotoko are this weekend, the English striker Kwesi Appiah is expected to make his return to the team after a long time due to an injury.
