Homicides on the road: Minister of Transport visits victims of an accident in Ekumfi

The Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, visited the victims of the road accident that claimed the life of Ekumfi in the central region.

The accident occurred on Friday left many people in shock, which sparked a national debate on how to limit events of this type.

Most of the victims of the accident are currently admitted to the Winneba Trauma Hospital and to the St. Luke Catholic Hospital in Apam, all located in the Central Region.

Speaking at the Ekosii Sen broadcast of Asempa FM on Monday, the minister announced that he had not yet gone to the Kintampo, where more than 60 people died of the consequences from a similar accident.

"It's a sad situation and we should pray that God will never let such a thing happen again in Ghana, but we can clearly see that most accidents are due to human error," he said.

"Is it good for us (Ghana) to have good roads or not? I ask the question because most accidents happen on our good roads and that's because the indiscipline on our roads is too heavy, "he questioned. However, he urged Ghanaians to take charge, for their own safety.

"It's time for citizens to take the security of their lives. We must be able to take responsibility for our own lives. We should be able to warn a driver when it exceeds or exceeds speed, "he advised.

"The government can do everything in its power, but if we do not play our role as citizens, we will never be able to deal with this threat, because Ghana has a problem of law enforcement. ", he added.

The death of ten people in Ekumfi Dunkwa, Ekumfi District, Central Region, was confirmed in an accident involving a metropolitan transit bus and a Yutong bus.

About 55 people were also killed Friday in a fatal accident around the Kintampo-Techiman highway.
