A county in the northern suburbs of New York City prohibits unvaccinated minors from traveling to public places to fight a measles outbreak that has infected more than 150 people since October.
Ed Day, the executive of Rockland County, plans to discuss details Tuesday at a press conference on the state of emergency announced.
The county is currently experiencing the longest measles outbreak in the state of New York since the official elimination of the disease in the United States in 2000. Health officials have indicated that the best way to curb the spread of the disease was a high vaccination rate in the community.
Earlier this month, a federal judge dismissed the parents' request to let 44 unvaccinated children return to the Waldorf School in Rockland County.
