Accra, March 26, GNA –
The Minerals Commission has indicted five people for alleged complicity
in the mining disaster in the underground mining concessions of Yenyeya and Pubortaaba
in Gbane in Talensi district, in the Far East region, on Tuesday, January
22 2019.

the inspection division of the Commission, which investigated the incident,
recommended the dismissal of Mr. Asibi Seidu, foreman of Shaanxi, for abandoning
his post without authorization and for allowing illegal miners to use his well
its compound, to access the underground works of Yenyeya and Pubortaaba,
leading to deaths.
An illegal miner, Mr.
Kwasi Appiah (aka Kwasi Bantama), who allowed his pits to be used as a point of
entry into the underground work of companies is also facing the full

The committee also
recommended dismissal of Mr. Thomas Tii Yenzaya, underground mine
Director of Yenyeya, for authorizing the use of explosives, that he did not record
in the books of storage of explosives.

At a briefing with the media

Issah and Abacazor, before the explosion.
Shaanxi, however,
provides mining services to small-scale mines and provides services
in Yenyeya and Pubortaaba in Talensi district.

The miners would have
entered the underground pits of the two mining companies without being noticed, so
