Director Zack Snyder explained the origin of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Martha's infamous scene.
Batman v Superman It was not the game changer that DC hoped would be the case and although some aspects of the film were praised, moments such as the infamous "Martha" scene provoked ridicule.
The scene involves a fight between the two heroes and the revelation that their two mothers are calling Martha, which has put aside their differences. Several years later, Zack Synder explained the origin of this scene during a recent panel (via Screen Rant's Stephen Colbert):
"It's funny, because we [screenwriter] Chris Terrio and I have reached this point in the film, in our discussions … we knew how to get them to fight, is not it? But how do you make them stop fighting? This is a difficult case. And we were somehow throwing on their humanity and Batman realizes that Superman has humanity, he's not just a creature, he's a man – he's an alien, but he is as human as, in many ways, he is more human than he is, right? He has somehow embraced all the positive aspects of the human race and Batman is able to sort of see what he is not. And I think that's how we started talking about it …. Then we started talking about how it could work. If Lois (Amy Adams) said it, maybe it's better, it's that kind of thing. Look, it's a mythological construction, this part does not pose any problem. "
