Jurgen Klopp sends a message to the Liverpool team before the Premier League title race

Jurgen Klopp urged his Liverpool team to capitalize on their "wonderful base" to aim for their first Premier League title.

The Reds occupy the top of the Premier League as they prepare to resume the fight against Tottenham on Sunday.

But they have only one point ahead of Manchester City, which has one fewer match, with Pep Guardiola's team seeking to land consecutive titles.

City is on for an unprecedented quad that has already won the Carabao Cup, reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the last eight of the Champions League.

Liverpool are also in the quarterfinals of the leading club competition in Europe and Klopp is ready for an exciting climax of the season.

"It's exciting, absolutely," Klopp said. "That's what we're talking about all the time: a season is like that, we're constantly preparing a base for the last few weeks.

"We are now in the last few weeks and there will be more interruption, there will be only match after match and they are all very important.

"On one side, the opponents compete for the Champions League places and on the other, they will fight (to stay in) the league.

"In the Champions League, we do not need to talk about this because they are all final, each game is a final. Hope we can stay in this competition for a while.

"We have created a wonderful base, let's use it now."
