Actor, screenwriter and producer Seth Rogen is badociated with his longtime partner, Evan Goldberg, in a new cannabis company.

Dubbed Houseplant, the marijuana company is being developed in partnership with the Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth. In a statement, Rogen and Goldberg said Houseplant cannabis had been developed after years of research and that its first variety, Houseplant Sativa, would be launched in April. The company is planning Houseplant Hybrid and Houseplant Indica marijuana varieties later this year.

"Every decision we make for the company reflects the years of education, experience and respect we have for cannabis," Rogen said in a statement.

Rogen and Goldberg have made themselves known in the film industry. Marijuana has featured prominently in many of their films, including Express pineapple. Rogen is a strong supporter of marijuana and publicly celebrated Canada's decision last year to legalize marijuana at the federal level.

Since then, Canada has become a hotbed of marijuana-related business, with many investments being invested in its fledgling marijuana industry.

Canopy Growth, which will partner with Houseplant for new products, is headquartered in Canada and operates in 12 countries. In a statement, Canopy Growth said it has been working with Houseplant for almost two years to help develop its products and provide production and distribution services to Rogen and Goldberg. Canopy Growth also owns a minority interest in Houseplant.
