More than three dozen flood victims who died of Cyclone Idai were buried in mbad graves in Sussungenga District after their bodies were found to be in an advanced state of decomposition.
These citizens tried to take refuge at the treetops, but because of hunger, low temperatures and delays in their rescue, they eventually lost their strength by falling into the water.
The official toll of the cyclone in Mozambique is now 534.
