Ejisu police arrested two people, including a private security guard, for abducting a 14-year-old boy and claiming a ransom of $ 3,000 from his family.

Charles Appiah, 38, and his accomplice in charge of security, Manbadeh Fumey, 29, reportedly abducted the victim at KNUST Junction in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region.

A third person, identified only as Felix on the run, is wanted by the police.

The suspects had lured the second-grade college student from his family home to Kwamo and took him to an unfinished building in Apatrapa where he had been locked in a room.

The public relations officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, said the suspects had planned and executed the kidnapping of a teenager two weeks ago.

According to ASP Ahianyo, Felix pretended to be a resident abroad and, with his accomplices, made friends and exchanged contacts with the victim, promising to buy him a smartphone and a laptop.

On March 24, 2019, fugitive Felix invited the victim to KNUST Junction to receive his smartphone and laptop. [and] chloroformed the victim in a Toyota Corolla vehicle waiting and drove to Apatrapa where the victim was kept in a two-storey isolated building.

Abduction of Kumasi

The 14-year-old victim was kept in this unfinished building room before being rescued.

They considered her grandmother with whom they live in the same neighborhood as "rich" and asked her to pay the $ 3,000 ransom for her release.

However, the screams of the boy in the building attracted attention and led to the rescue of the victim, said Ohemeng Tawiah of Nhyira FM on Wednesday, March 27.

"On March 26, 2019, the abandoned victim in the isolated building managed to cut the rope and cry for help, which attracted the attention of the pbaders-by who informed the Tanoso police," who reacted quickly and promptly. saved the victim, ASP Ahianyo added.
