Ken Anderson: President of Bolton Wanderers informed staff that he had signed an agreement to sell his club

In January, Bolton owner Ken Anderson admitted that the club "needs someone with more financial resources than me."

Bolton Wanderers President Ken Anderson told the staff that he had signed an agreement in principle to sell the club and that the deal could be finalized within 48 hours.

Anderson reached the same stage in February with a consortium led by businessman Parminder Basran, but the deal failed.

Taking a majority stake in 2017, he currently holds 94.5% of the club through his Inner Circle company.

In January, he said he "was doing his best" to find a buyer at events.

Staff members learned on Wednesday that the club hoped the final deal would be reached within 48 hours, with the new owner ensuring that March's wages are paid on Friday.

February staff salaries were paid late, while players and coaches only received their pay on March 12th.

A week later, Bolton confirmed the end of the purchase talks with another interested buyer, supposed to be the Football Ventures consortium.

The next day, the club had two weeks to settle its debts or risk going to the administration after appearing in front of the High Court for a tax bill of £ 1.2m.

The case must be filed in High Court on April 3.
