Amazon Announces More Than 800 New Jobs for Austin Tech Hub

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The technology giant, Amazon, announced on Thursday that it would expand its Austin Tech Hub and would eventually create hundreds of new jobs in the city.

The expansion will create approximately 800 new jobs in areas ranging from software and hardware engineering to scientific research and cloud computing.

"Over the past four years, we've created more than 1,000 jobs in Austin," said Amazon's Austin Tech Hub General Manager Terry. Leeper. "With a strong talent pool in Austin and a vibrant quality of life, we are excited to continue to grow and create more opportunities in this dynamic city."

Austin Tech Tech of Austin is one of 17 other centers in North America. The company has created about 22,000 full-time jobs in Texas since 2011. It has also invested more than $ 7 billion in the state.

The Austin hub focuses primarily on Amazon Web Services, Amazon Business, Amazon devices, video game design and advertising.
