The third edition of the Ghana Beverage Awards, which has just ended, has seen the efforts of many indigenous beverage producers as well as some international brands rewarded.

The event at the Kempinski Gold Coast City hotel Accra brought together many key players in the beverage industry.

During the night, awards were given to producers of different categories of beverages who excelled in their various fields.

Speaking at the launch, Robert Ahomka-Lindsay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, spoke of his enthusiasm at an event aimed at celebrating Ghanaian beverages and their manufacturers.

"It is comforting to see that we are still in step with our Ghanaian heritage and we show it by consuming our own drinks and celebrating its manufacturers.

"By consuming products made in Ghana, we do not only share our identity and heritage as Ghanaians but also support the growth of our economy too, "he said.

He added that government is ready to provide the necessary subsidies for the growth of the sector.

Ahomka-Lindsay said the government, a district and a factory, recognize that the beverage industry is an important part of this process of industrialization.

This year's awards have encouraged public participation by giving them the opportunity to name their favorite drinks.

The public also participated in determining the winner of the most coveted "Product Category of the Year" by voting via various platforms.

The prize categories include Beer of the Year, Spirit of the Year, Year Bitters, Year Water, Fruit Juice of the Year, Soft Drink of Year year, Energy drink of the year, CSR of the company of drink of the year, manufacturer of the year and product of the year.

The new categories added are: international wine of the year, international spirit of the year, international beer of the year and new year drink.

Chris Addo-Sarkodie, Brand Manager at Kasapreko Company Limited, thanked the staff for their hard work, which allowed Storm Energy Drink to win the prestigious "Product of the Year" award.

"Our sincerest thanks also go to the organizers of this event for the recognition of our industry and of course to our brand ambbadador, Shatta Wale, for her strong support of Storm Energy Drink.

"To the entire Ghanaian public, we can only thank you enough for your support. Thank you very much for voting and enjoying our group, "he said.

Commenting on the event, Ernest Boateng, CEO of Global Media Alliance, also expressed his appreciation for the participation of the public and beverage companies before the event.

He added that the Ghana Beverages Awards envisioned a future where lesser-known locally produced beverages would gain the necessary recognition both locally and internationally.

Mr. Boateng praised the companies for their innovation through packaging, branding and adherence to established standard practices for regulating the beverage industry.
