Pochettino had been badociated with two of the highest executive football positions – Manchester United and Real Madrid – but since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment to Old Trafford, both roles are now filled.

And with the opening of the new Tottenham stadium on April 3, Anderton sees no reason for the manager to decide to leave the club.

The former English international told 888Sport: "I hope that Pochettino will still be there next season and if you ask me my opinion, yes, I think it will be.

"I would be absolutely delighted if this happens to be the case because he was very good for the football club, he is a good guy who is worried and wants to be part of the process.

"He likes it here and he likes to work with the kind of players that Tottenham has. He wants young people to work hard and improve individually and he works a lot on the training ground.

"It means that the club has become stronger and everyone is happy, and the new stadium just adds to that. So for me it would be a shock if Pochettino decided now that it was time to move on. "
