Volkswagen and Siemens to collaborate on industrial cloud technology

BERLIN (Reuters) – Volkswagen has chosen Siemens as an integration partner to connect its 122 factories to Amazon's cloud in order to increase production efficiency, the two German companies announced on Friday. .

"Siemens will play a key role in ensuring that machinery and equipment from different manufacturers in the 122 Volkswagen factories are efficiently networked in the cloud," they said in a joint statement, without specifying the financial terms.

Volkswagen announced Wednesday it has teamed with Amazon Web Services to link and integrate data from factories, machines and systems, to improve and standardize its production systems and processes.

For Siemens, Volkswagen is a major and leading customer for its MindSphere Internet of Things platform, at the heart of its Digital Factory division.
