The number of prescriptions for antidepressants in England has almost doubled over the last decade, new figures have shown.
NHS Digital data1 show that 70.9 million antidepressant prescriptions were issued in 2018, up from 36 million in 2008.
This number has steadily increased from year to year, with 64.7 million donated in 2016 and 67.5 million prescribed in 2017.
