Cars' Lightning McQueen prepares for a solo show at Hollywood Studios

The Disney parks may be preparing for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, but other attractions are yet to come.

A brand new Lightning McQueen experience will debut at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando on March 31st. Entitled Lightning McQueen Racing Academy, this interactive show invites park fans to chat with the King of the races himself.

Like the Monsters, Inc. Disney World's Tomorrowland's Laugh Floor and Turtle Talk with Crush in many Disney parks, the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy will allow guests to interact with the character. Other attractions include the voice of the characters, which are manipulated via digital puppets – the manipulation of real-time digital animated figures.

While other Cars movie cars – Mater, Sally and Cruz Ramirez, for example – will appear on the screens during the show, Lightning will be in physical car form.

A car-themed course already exists at California Adventure in Anaheim, which features attractions and car encounters, but it will be the first car-specific attraction in Hollywood Studios.

It's not exactly Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge – which will open at Hollywood Studios on August 29th – but this new attraction could appeal to the younger ones before they can build their own lightsaber. The Lightning McQueen Race School will be the first of many new attractions offered by Hollywood Studios as it now shifts from studio-style attractions to Disney-themed attractions such as Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel.
