THE RIGHT TO INFORMATION, IT'S A SUN

The Progressive People's Party would like to congratulate the Parliament of Ghana for adopting the Right to Information Bill, but with few gaps. We also welcome the boldness shown by the leaders who finally accepted the challenge of pbading this bill during their term, a novelty that other plans could not do. Individuals, the media, civil society and other groups who have been campaigning vigorously for 22 years to pbad this bill must also be commended.

We implore the Attorney General to immediately work on the Legislative Instrument (LI) that will contribute to the successful enforcement of the law.

This legislation will bring transparency to all government transactions and provide citizens with the opportunity to monitor government policy and plans from start to finish. It will also help to reduce corruption and nepotism in the public sector.

The media and the people of Ghana must take advantage of this law and make it a ray of sunshine in government agreements and agreements concluded in the interest of all.

While congratulating the Government for the good work done, we urge it not to adopt a delaying tactic with regard to the legislative instrument that will make this law operational.
